I also got this vintage pattern. There were 2 big boxes of patterns, but most of them were 80's. I did manage to pick out this little gem and I'd love to make it up. I haven't pulled it out to see if all the pieces are there, but if they are I would love to make the dress in a navy blue knit. I'm planning to hit a few flea markets this weekend and I have been seeing church fairs being advertised for October, so hopefully my thrifting luck will keep up!

Thrifted
I had yesterday off from work so Iwent to a thrift shop to see what I could find. Picked up these oil and vinegar jars with the Spring Blossom pattern on them. I know they aren't made by Pyrex, but they do coordinate with my favorite pattern :) I'd love to trade these though, maybe for some salt & pepper shakers or a butter dish. We'll see :)

Saturday and Sunday
This weekend I went apple-picking at a farm in NH. We didn't actually pick any apples because it was so hot but we did check out the pumpkin patch....
And the petting zoo....
I got a bag of apples and a pumpkin :)
I made some applesauce using this recipe. It came out really good! I'm going to make roasted pumpkin seeds and pumpkin puree using the pumpkin I got. I love fall :)

Mabel Messenger Bag
Happy Saturday All! I finally finished my Mabel Messenger Bag and I am sooo happy with it! I used Amy Butler's August Fields fabric and lined it with brown twill. I included a zippered pocket as well as a patch pocket with a pen holder. I double-stitched the bottom of the bag as well as triple-stitched the straps. This bag should be able to carry anything and everything! Hope everyone has a great weekend :)

Pink Coriander and Blue Polka Dots
I think this is my new favorite combination! Here is where I got my inspiration. I had blue polka dots on hand, so I used that, along with Amy Butler's Pink Coriander. I have had this fabric for a while and couldn't figure out what to pair it with. I love the pink and blue together!
And here is the finished product. These were made as gifts and I'm really looking forward to giving them! The pouches were made using this tutorial, which I highly recommend. The only thing I did different was to use interfacing. I kind of went on my own for the zipper insertion.

I've been working hard on my Mabel bag, hope to have a finished object up soon! :)

Have I Told You About My Other Addiction?
Yes, besides sewing and fabric I am totally addicted to collecting PYREX! I know I have mentioned it here before, but I have found some real gems lately that I wanted to share. I also found a great new blog that I want to mention as well...
I have also found pieces at antique stores, thrift shops, church fairs and flea markets and a couple of pieces were gifts. I love to look for Pyrex, it's the thrill of the hunt I suppose. I did buy my loaf pan on ebay, but I really really wanted it! You can see more pictures (if you are interested :) on my flickr page.
The blog that I mentioned is called The Pyrex Collective. I love to see other people's Pyrex and read about how they found it as well. There are also several groups on flickr devoted to the love of Pyrex. I'm hoping to hunt for some new pieces this weekend!

Apples to Apples (and Pears)
Some productive sewing was done yesterday afternoon. My boyfriend had requested a checkbook cover like the one I had made a few weeks ago to give to his mom, so I whipped this one up. While I was cutting out the pieces for the cover, I figured why not get started on more card cases - so here are the first 3 of the next batch, just waiting on their snaps! Today I plan to start working on the Mabel Messenger bag and cut a few more card cases, I also have pouches planned for one of my good friends and my cousin. I went for a long run this morning though, so first I need to relax a bit! Happy Sunday to you!

New Stitch and Bad News From Bloglines
I have been catching up on my blog-reading and saw that the newest issue of Stitch magazine is out. I have to run to the store to get it! This magazine always has cute projects. I just wish there was more time in the day to make things :)
When I clicked on Bloglines this morning, I read that they are shutting the site down as of October 1! I'm really disappointed to hear this, I love the site - it's so simple to navigate and subscribe to blogs. I subscribe to 275 blogs!!! I'm going to have to input them all into Google Reader. I had over 50 posts saved, so I finally went through all of them and bookmarked them. There are so many amazing projects and tutorials on the web, it's such a luxury to have it all at your fingertips!
I'm off to work on some small projects that are for gifts. I'll post pictures later today or tomorrow when they are finished. Happy Sewing!

The Knit Top
Pattern: Simplicity 2934 - $.99
Fabric: Jersey Knit from fabric.com - $2.99 per yard/1.5 yards - $4.49
Total: $5.48
I loved making and wearing this top - it's a pretty simple and straightforward pattern that produced great results. Although I won't be making another one right now, next spring/summer I would definitely make this up again :)

Oh No.....
Well, as you can see, I ran into a snag (or created this snag) while serging the sleeve cap of my top. So, I spent yesterday afternoon ripping out serged seams, which was not fun. Luckily I had plenty left of the fabric to cut another sleeve out and it has since been fixed. I'm going to wear it to my family cookout today and I'll post about it tonight :)
However, I did add up the money I made from my recent sewing sweatshop and found that it may be worth it to spend a bit of time each week making some things to sell. :) I got to order a whole bunch of new fabric! I've settled on this Amy Butler fabric to make up this bag with, so I ordered that, as well as some quilting cottons to make more card cases with! Happy Sewing to you!
