More Lisette News

Alert reader Karen let me know that the Lisette patterns are up on the Simplicity website - hopefully they will be available when Joann's has a Simplicity sale in March!  She also suggested I search for the Lisette blog - here is the link - go check it out!

PS - I'm almost at my 200th post!!!  I never did anything to mark my 100th, so I'm going to do something special for this one...maybe a giveaway.........  :)  Stay tuned!  And thank you, Karen!

Craft Book Challenge - February

Whoa!  I completed the Craft Book Challenge for February just in the nick of time!  This is a clutch that I made for a birthday gift for one of my best friends.  I hope she likes it!  I used some of my favorite fabric - the bird print is from Joann's.  So is the polka dot - I have been searching every Joann's I come across for more of that purple dot print but I have had no luck!  This was definitely fun to make and it came out really cute - next time I would probably make it a little smaller and attach a wrist strap to it.  Now I have to figure out what to make in March!

Must Have....

These new patterns!  I read that Oliver + S was collaborating with Simplicity on a new line of patterns for women called Lisette.  I want them all!  Not sure when they are coming out, but as soon as they do...and Joann's has a Simplicity pattern sale....I will be adding these pretties to my collection :)

New Fabric

For some reason, I have lost my motivation to sew. So, in order to jumpstart it again, I did some fabric shopping yesterday! Joann's was have a President's Day sale, so I got some great deals. Plus, I had gift cards, so this little shopping spree didn't cost me a thing! Here's what I came home with......

The black and blue leaf print will be used for a bag, and I had to replenish my supply of Apples and Pears. The white print with blue and red flowers is a jersey knit that was on the clearance rack. This will make a great summer top - probably using the same pattern as I did here - the striped fabric is a polyester suiting that was also on clearance. I will be using this to muslin some pants (someday!). The print on the right is my favorite - it's a matte jersey and it's so soft and fluid. It will probably make me crazy to sew it, but it was so pretty I had to get it!

I also picked up some patterns. I have always liked the skirt pattern on the right, so I figured I should grab it and add it to my collection. The Cynthia Rowley pattern I grabbed because I liked the simple jacket, although the dress is cute too. The jacket looked relatively easy and would be great for work. Now hopefully I will have the motivation to sew this weekend! I still need to finish off my cowl neck top, that is project #1! :)

New Bag

Posted by Picasa
Finally finished my new bag today - made this one up using Simplicity 0483 (which is listed on their website under a different number).  It was a quick and easy bag to sew up and I'm loving it!   I love bags that are basically totes, but with a more interesting shape :)

Here is a shot of the lining.  The lining fabric is Alexander Henry.  I found this print ages ago at Joann's and it's been sitting in my stash waiting for a partner.  The exterior fabric is Amy Butler, which as I had written about earlier, I had a hard time finding a match for this print.  I'm really happy with the way these two paired up.  :)

This Week

Finally picked out a lining for my bag. I found this Alexander Henry print in my stash - another good reason why I need to keep it neat! I'm hoping to finish this bag before I go away this weekend, but I don't know if I'm going to be able to....we'll see!

Golden Acorn!!! Found this 045 casserole at an antique shop for $9!!  I snatched it right up! It needs a little elbow grease to get it cleaned up but the print is in excellent condition. I love the gold-leaf Pyrex prints. :)

Found this Autumn Harvest 043 casserole at a thrift shop for $5!! It's in perfect shape except for one little chip under one of the handles. I love this size dish :)

Did a little baking in my Pyrex, too!  So far, a pretty good week :)

(Another) Snow Day!

The snow moved into the Northeast a little sooner than I expected, so I took today off instead of tomorrow.  The snow turned to rain pretty quickly, but I did not even consider going to work!  There was relaxing and sewing to be done :)
I whipped up another version of Vogue 8597 today :)  It took me about 2 hours to cut out and put this together, although I have not hemmed it and I want to redo the facing on the cowl.  But otherwise, I am super happy with it!  It's actually a dark navy color, the camera lightened it up quite a bit.  The whole thing was done up on my trusty serger, which really made it quick to sew.  I cannot recommend this pattern enough!

Next up is this purse pattern (I'm going to do the version on the top left).  I am desperate for a new bag.  When I was cleaning my sewing closet I realized I have a ton of this Amy Butler fabric, so I decided to use it right away.  I could never figure out what to use as a lining with it as the colors are quite different, so I'm just going to line the bag in the same fabric!  I've never done that before, but I think it will be an interesting look.  I'm hoping to cut this out and sew it up over the weekend!

February

I snapped this picture on my way to work a week or so ago....and we are expecting even more snow this week!  I'm planning a snow day for Thursday so hopefully I will get lots of sewing done!

Some goals for February are:
  • Sew an apron for a friend's mother
  • Sew a bag for my cousin
  • Sew a bag for myself!
  • Make a few more pouches to sell
  • Keep up with blogging (I did good in January - 13 posts!)
  • Pick out and sew a project for the Craft Book Challenge
  • Sew another cowl neck top from this Vogue pattern
That's about it - now that my sewing closet has been reorganized, I am more motivated than ever!  I can't wait til Thursday!  What are some of your goals or plans this month?
